Zimmerman Brothers has been selling cars in Pittsfield since 1915. In fact, the third-generation auto dealership is believed to be the oldest existing Buick dealership in the country.
But in May 2008, Zimmerman's was notified that their General Motors license agreement would not be renewed in October 2010, meaning they would no longer be able to sell new GM vehicles or do service work on vehicles with GM warranties. If the dealership loses it's license agreement, most customers could have to drive as far as Quincy, Jacksonville or even St. Louis to get warranty service work done.
